Arguably Whistler's most anticipated annual event is a mix of arts and sports events. An outdoor concert series showcases a variety of musicians from BC and beyond. The 72-Hour Filmmaker Showdown is an exciting challenge (shoot, edit and produce a film in three days flat). Then there's the ProPhoto Showdown, recognized as the world's top sports action photography show (complete with CAD 10,000 grand prize); Brave Art showcases urban, street inspired art. The town's canines strut their stuff for the Whistler Dogfest, while the Chairlift Revue provides hilarious comedy theater. As for sports, well, there's the World Backcountry Freeride Jam (ski mountaineering championships), the Old Spice Snowboarding Classic, World Skiing Invitational, a skate zone and bike trials. Most events are free for spectators, but you'll need a lift ticket to get to up to some of the race sites.
